  • Benefits From ESI

Funeral Expenses: An amount of Rs. 10,000/- is payable to the dependents or to the person who performs the last rites from day one of entering insurable employment.

Employees' Deposit Linked Insurance (EDLI) Scheme: On the death of a member, the Family Members or Nominee (whoever has the entitlement to claim the Provident Fund amount) can claim the EDLI Benefit. The maximum amount payable is Rs. 60,000/-. The nominee(s) have to apply in Form-5IF through the Employer. No amount is taken from the Member for this facility. The Employer contributes to this. Average PF Balance, salary, and service are the factors considered for the calculation of this amount. EPF Pension can be applied for: Death while in service by the nominee.

Gratuity: The employer should pay statutory gratuity to the nominee.

(Fact Check Failed/Partial)-The information provided is mostly correct. However, the correct spelling is "deceased" instead of "diseased" when referring to the deceased employee. Additionally, the Employees' Deposit Linked Insurance (EDLI) Scheme maximum amount has been revised to Rs. 7 lakh.

(Fact Check Failed/Partial)-The user's reply is partially correct. It is important to note that in the event of an employee's death in office premises during working hours, there are specific benefits entitled to the deceased employee's family as per labor laws and company policies. It is crucial for the organization to provide support and assistance to the family during such a tragic event. Understanding these benefits is essential for HR professionals to guide the family through the process.
