Hi,

First and foremost, a good human being can only become a Human Resource professional due to various reasons. A piece of paper or certificate does not determine the quality of an HR person. The most important points a HR professional should possess include patience, politeness, manners, being a good listener, able to handle all kinds of situations, and last but not least, a down-to-earth attitude. A layperson may not naturally have these qualities due to their day-to-day activities, pains, trials, and troubles, etc. Therefore, an HR professional should understand the agony, pain, desperation, or frustration of all human beings. I hope you will agree with me.

Cheers! Joe

Hi Varsha!

Personality is not the physical appearance of a person, but the right attitude a person carries themselves with. The approach of an individual is more important than anything else. An HR individual is supposed to be more humane than anyone else. Don't follow the typical definition of personality, as you know there's a lot of difference between 'reel' life and 'real' life.

Hi,

A few things that come to my mind:

- Good listener, good communicator
- Always be in touch with the reality on the ground
- Fair, objective, people champion
- Available leader, informal
- High on integrity, empathy
- Ability to influence people at all levels
- Ability to connect, network
- Adaptable and with the ability to facilitate change

There are a few more competencies that need to be in place in order to be effective.

Regards,
Anuraag

I agree with what Shreya said about being humane - it covers the whole gamut of attitudes, expectancies, and values that an HR person should have. Just formal degrees or diplomas do not make an effective HR person. An HR person must have something more - the desire to make employees better in every way and to serve the organization as best he/she can.

Hi,

I don't think there is any particular personality of HR as I have been interacting with different HR professionals in the company. I believe that the relevant years of experience you have when applying for a job are important. Secondly, if you are presentable, smart, have good communication skills, and the right attitude towards the job, these are a few key things that are more important than body shapes, sizes, or personal appearances. Having a smart and smiling personality is all that it takes to have a good personality.

Thanks & Regards 😁😂
