My name is Anil, and I have been selected by a company to start a business (sheet metal stamping manufacturing unit in Chennai) in India. They selected me to start a business because I had worked closely with them in the past when they were supplying parts to the present company where I work. They feel that I am apt to do it, and I also believe that this is a good opportunity for me to learn things and have one of the best experiences in my life.
I request all seniors here to help me out in the way I have to move forward to do my best. If someone has prior experience and can guide me, please share your contact details. A few queries for better clarity.
First from your Present Employment perspective:
1. Are you still employed with the company to which this company is supplying parts?
2. If Yes, does your company know about your plans—that you have been offered to start the Unit?
3. If No, do you intend informing your present company—if not now, then later? How do YOU think it will be taken?
From the Opportunity of starting the Unit perspective:
1. Will this Company be giving you the jobs of manufacturing sheet metal stampings? If Yes, any specific timeframes—meaning until when—and in what quantums—meaning sufficient for monthly workload?
2. Will your present company's work also be routed to your new business? If Yes, then there COULD be a few issues.
3. From where has this Company been getting their jobs executed so far?
4. What's in it FOR THEM by helping you to start this Unit? Obviously, there's NOTHING called 'free lunch' in life.
5. Will you be free to take up other jobs—not linked to this Company who is helping you?
6. I wouldn't touch upon the Financials—though they are quite important—at this stage.
I suggest you give as many details as possible (without revealing the names, etc.) that will enable the members to give the most accurate and realistic suggestions to you.
