Hello friends,

I'm Priya, working in a private limited company as an HR Executive. Nowadays, I am planning to start my own consultancy. One of my friends, who is a Chartered Accountant, is going to help me. However, I am a little confused about how we should plan for this. I mean, from which stage can we start our work? Also, please guide me on how to start my consultancy and what procedures I need to follow.

Hi That is good idea to start the Consultancy. Initially plan what type of consultancy that you are planning to start? Is is recruitment consultant or payroll & statutory? Training?

If you are planning to start payroll and compliance, you should be well-versed in all statutory registration formalities and periodical returns, etc.

Initially, you should start as a freelancer, working and providing consultancy part-time. Later, if you acquire good and sufficient clients, you can consider quitting your job.

What Jeevarathnam has said is one way of looking at the scenario. One can also go all out to get clients as well. However, preparing your roadmap, internal processes, materials required for training, etc., if you are looking to move forward. Again, on the recruitment front, although clients are easy to acquire, you need to assess whether you have the strength to 'fulfill' the client's requirements with exclusive resumes. In my humble opinion, it may take 6 to 9 months before you can stabilize operations if you are a two or three-member organization.
