Please send me the minimum wages of Maharashtra from July '14 to Dec '14. It's very urgent because I don't want to create arrears challan of EPF and ESIC and also pay sheet. There are many employees working on a contract basis in the month of July, so I need to make the payment as per the revised minimum wage effective from July 2014.

Dear Dipak,

The relevant notification does not seem to have been released. I shall share it with you the moment I get it. As for your concern regarding arrears of PF & ESI, I feel you are not doing anything wrong. Let us consider this example:

If you receive a promotion or increment in July '14 with effect from April '14, what would you do? You will pay PF contributions on the difference in salary after your salary is revised in July '14. Similarly, you can treat these contract workmen in the same manner.

However, the increase in July might result in some workmen no longer being eligible for ESI. Nevertheless, the contribution should continue until the end of the current contribution period, regardless of the increase.

Therefore, go ahead and make the deductions from the current salary and remit the contributions before the due date.
