The question I want to present is: can technology services like interviewstreet.com and Mettl.com be used to pre-screen candidates for non-technical roles - perhaps by developing some sort of psychometric analysis tests. Would that be useful enough?

Is anyone using any such online services? Would this add value to recruiters if they are able to get candidates pre-screened in some way? Can consultants create job-specific questionnaires to pre-screen candidates if such a service was available at nominal rates?

Dear Mr. Roy,

There are so many questionnaires as well as answers available on the internet. If we search, we can find the answers to the questionnaires. Simply copying, pasting, and changing the format or some words will be the answer for the online interview unless we attend a real-time online interview.

Some individuals may be very fond of writing but struggle with speaking. Others might be good speakers but struggle to write even two lines without any mistakes. Additionally, some individuals may excel academically but face challenges when it comes to practical work. Therefore, currently, a personal face-to-face interview seems to be the correct way to find the right candidate for the appropriate position. However, in the future, we can expect online interviews to play a significant role in determining the entire workforce.

Hmmm... So a pre-screening test platform for non-technical profiles probably does not make that much sense. But they do work marvelously well when it comes to technical profiles.

Let's see what others have to say about this. So, doing some sort of pre-screening via a written online test is not a required thing by recruiters?

I liked the way Mettl has shared its process for preventing cheating. That answers every doubt regarding its validation.

Every role, right from the entry level to the junior-mid level, requires assessments. Most firms have their in-house software or buy it from Mafoi or other hiring consultancies. This will only remain specific to domain knowledge and not social or experiential learning.

With due respect to both Interview Street and Mettl, I feel one should check out the site testmyskills with the same URL. The products that they offer in terms of online and offline assessment are far more powerful than most products available on the market.
