Dear Pranita Mehra,
According to labor law, not only sales and marketing companies, but any employee is supposed to work 48 hours a week at their normal pay rate. Any hours worked beyond that should be compensated as overtime pay in accordance with the law.
The standard working hours are 8 hours per day for 6 working days or 8 hours per day for 5 working days with one compulsory holiday each week.

Hi Mahr,
Thank you for this, but I am a little confused as you mentioned 8 hours for 6 days or 8 hours for 5 days, which adds up to only 40 hours in total. Are you suggesting that the company should work on the 6th day for a few hours, like a half day?

Hi Prashant,
I am joining a new startup, so I am required to do a lot on the HR front. Can you advise on some sites or reference books that would help me in implementing things on a daily basis? Any advice would work :)
Thank you!

No need to say thanks, Ms. Pranita.
This forum is developed with the idea that we can receive good suggestions from our HR colleagues regarding different issues, to enhance our knowledge and reduce mistakes. I have completed my part, and now it's your turn to execute the same in a proper manner.
Keep sharing.
Take care.

Hi Kapil,
Yes, I hope to execute everything properly. I am new to this forum and to the site, and it's great to see people coming forth and helping one another in all ways possible.
Also, I was just going through your documents. Can you confirm if this would be applicable to any sales and marketing corporate firm as well, or are there different rules for a corporate? :)

Hi Kapil,
Thanks for this. Also, I will be joining a startup real soon, so any information, any checklist would really help as I would have to set up all kinds of HR policies. So, any references that you think I should take would be really great :)

Hi Kapil,
Sorry for troubling you again and again. Someone on this forum informed me that for a sales and marketing company, the shop and establishment acts should be looked into while setting up HR policies such as working hours, etc. It says a maximum of 9 hours per day and a maximum of 48 hours in a week, which differs a little from what you have said. Can you please advise on this?

Dear Ms. Pranita,
Greetings for the day:)
You have already answered the same in the said query. Just do one thing, read it slowly: 9 hours a day maximum and 48 hours maximum in a week. What does that mean? Just try to think over it, and if you still do not get the solution, feel free to contact me.

I am working in a fixed date daily Health Service provider Company under PPP mode. My duty hours start from 7 AM and end at 7 PM. I used to get a buffer day in which I have to stay in the office from 7 AM to 7 PM. According to the roster of the company, I have to work 26 days in a month (12 hours daily). Is it legitimate according to the Labour Law (Indian)? Please specify it.

Hello!!
Firstly, in case we work for 9 hours a day and get 2 days off weekly, i.e., Saturday and Sunday, are we liable for overtime if called in on our weekly off?
Secondly, what if the company decides to extend working hours to 10 hours per day? I work in a BPO.
I urgently require your suggestions.

Dear all,
I have joined a facility management company that provides housekeeping, pest control, and security services to various clients (e.g., factories, hospitals, hotels, MNCs, retail outlets, etc.). Do we need to follow all the Acts separately, or is there a new Act for these kinds of services? Please let me know as I am totally confused.
Thanks and regards

Hello,
I just got a job in a small consulting firm as an HR executive, although they don't have any HR strategies in place. Please, what am I expected to do on my first day at work? This is the first time I am being assigned this role. I have only worked as an HR officer for just six months in my previous job.
