Sir, I worked in a limited company. I have only received 26 days' wages for working three shifts in this company. However, I have not been paid for my off days. Could you please advise me on how off day/rest day wages are calculated?
Thanks with Regards

As per the MW 1950 (Central) Rules, Rule 23, we can see how employees would get a rest day (off day) whether they have been working under a daily wage system or a piece-rate scheme. This rule has 7 sub-rules. Sub-rules 4 and 5 indicate that an employee shall be paid wages for the rest day (off day) if they work in a 7-day pattern. Please refer to the rule for further details and provide a discussion on it. For additional information, contact Jose N. Paul.

Dear Sir,
Could you provide more information on your issue, such as your pay cycle period? According to statutory regulations, after working for six days, every company is obligated to provide a rest day, which is a paid day. Are there any other benefits that the company offers, such as compensatory off facility where you must avail all the rest days within two months?
Kindly share more information so that we can provide you with advice.
Thanks and regards,

Here we have a 3-year term settlement for salary revision. The company runs on a 7-day production system. We will have one day of rest on the 7th day (off day) each week in a staggered manner. It will be neither Sunday nor any other day. (This year, my weekly off day is on Thursday, and it will move to the next day next year starting from January 26).
Employees (workers) are working on a piece-rate system in the 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th grades and should receive Rs 281, 271, 261, and 205, respectively, for one day (8 hours). The IE department has set a schedule for each production for 8 hours, and workers should receive a production piece-rate based on their performance (it will vary for each product). The average earning of a 3rd-grade worker is Rs 330-340. Moreover, here we receive Variable DA. 6 paisa per day per point above and beyond 100 points of the consumer price index number published by the Directorate of Economics & Statistics, Government of Kerala (1998-99 = 100 points multiplied by the linking factor of...
