Hi Friend,

You can write the formula on your own. The Gratuity Rule is calculated as follows: Last Basic/26 Days X 15 Days X Number of working years.

For example, if someone worked for 6 years and their last Basic was 5000 (at the time of their exit), you can calculate as follows: 5000/26 to get the per day amount. Then, multiply the per day amount by 15 days to get the per year amount. After that, multiply the per year amount by 6 years (Number of Years worked) to determine the gratuity liability.

I hope this clears things up for you.

Normally, we provide our staff with gratuity of 21 days per year. For example:
Total Salary: 10000 * 12 = 120000
Total Working Days: 455
Total Years: 1.25
Daily Wages: 328.80
Gratuity Calculation: 21 * 328.80 * 1.25 = 8631

Hi, I have a doubt in the Gratuity formula (Last basic X 15 / 26 X No of years). If 26 represents the number of working days in a month, how should we calculate if an organization has workings of 22 days and salary calculation is for 30 days? Can you provide an example specific to IT/ITES companies?

(Fact Checked)-The formula for gratuity calculation is correct (Last basic X 15 / 26 X No of years). In cases where the number of working days in a month is different, we still use 26 for the calculation. (1 Acknowledge point)

    Can someone assist me, please?

I need to calculate gratuity for our employees, and the criteria are as follows:
    - Basic salary * 7 days if years of service is 1 to 3 years
    - Basic salary * 14 days if years of service is 3.1 to 4.99 years
    - Basic salary * 21 days if years of service is more than 4.99 to 5 years
    - Basic salary * 30 days if years of service is more than 5.1 to above

I am looking to implement this calculation using the IF function in Excel.

    Thanks

    Hi,

Nowadays, most companies work only 22 days in a month. In this case, employees will receive more Gratuity. Is the 26th common for all companies, or will it differ based on the company?

Please provide clarity on this subject.

Many companies only require employees to work 22 days a month. In this case, the employee will receive a higher severance pay from the company. However, this severance allowance does not depend on the company's number of working days in the month but is calculated based on a standard formula.
