Can i know about the difference between TQM & six sigma?
From India, Madras

Mr. Murugan,

Six Sigma is a lean manufacturing process technique for continual improvement of quality and quantity. It is an effective and powerful tool for manufacturing and production.

Total quality management refers to product manufacturing to delivery, whatever the quality norms integrated, such as QMS, ISO, etc., that are part and parcel of the entire business process.

Have a nice day.

Hi,

TQM and 6 Sigma are both related to the quality aspect of any work. The 6 Sigma technique can be very precise, whereas TQM focuses on checking the overall working process.

A company approved as 6 Sigma will have good TQM measures, but a company implementing TQM processes may not necessarily be 6 Sigma approved.

Six Sigma is a quality tool/technique to reduce the variation in process/product.

TQM - Total Quality Management (TQM) is a management approach (thought process) to long-term success through customer satisfaction. It involves the entire organization from suppliers to dealers.
