Hi Peters,

The book on personality tests seems to be good. It's a nice way to spend time with your colleagues. All goes well in the office if it goes well at home.

Can anyone help me out with psychometric tests that can be conducted for interviewing candidates to help identify mismatches?

Regards,
Sandy

This is a good book for the usage, but not culture fair. There are tests developed for the Indian scenario for dealing with our own candidates and selecting the best available with our own psychologists in India like ACHIEVEMENT PERSONALITY RUDIMENTS MAPPING (APMR), PERSONALITY PROFILING (PP), ANGER CHECKLIST (AG), etc. These tests cover various areas of personality, including turbulent quotient, passion quotient, interpersonal efficiency, and counseling aptitude for HR professionals. These assessments are part of our professional psychologists' contributions to the field of psychometry.

I would like to present a favorite quote which relates to the collection you posted about assessing abilities/skills at various levels:

The longer I live, the more I realize the impact of attitude on life. Attitude, to me, is more important than facts. It is more important than the past, the education, the money, than circumstances, than failure, than successes, than what other people think or say or do. It is more important than appearance, giftedness or skill. It will make or break a company... a church... a home. The remarkable thing is we have a choice everyday regarding the attitude we will embrace for that day. We cannot change our past... we cannot change the fact that people will act in a certain way. We cannot change the inevitable. The only thing we can do is play on the one string we have, and that is our attitude. I am convinced that life is 10% what happens to me and 90% of how I react to it. And so it is with you... we are in charge of our Attitudes.”- Charles R. Swindoll

This book is downloaded like a hotcake till it got posted. But please, for knowledge purposes only, you can have this as the title of the book itself states, "The Psychologist's Book of Personality Tests." I advise fellow HR professionals to seek appropriate psychologists' guidance for usage purposes rather than using it on your own, which will not be helpful to serve its purpose and may lead to adverse results sometimes.

The note in the book is quoted for your kind attention:

"This publication is designed to provide accurate and authoritative information regarding the subject matter covered. It is sold with the understanding that the publisher is not engaged in rendering professional services. If professional advice or other expert assistance is required, the services of a competent professional person should be sought."

I am planning to give you the idea of mistakes happening among HRs in India in a few days for a better understanding in the usage of psychometric tools for HR purposes.

Hi! I'm a psychologist and would like to know if there is any test that can be downloaded from the internet for assessing children in 9th and 10th grades and guiding them in choosing their career. I know some tests can be used, but they all need to be purchased.

Warm Regards,

Jyoti,

I have a suggestion. If you are serious about getting guidance about kids' careers, try a test that will assess the latent talent of the child. As Mindtuners has mentioned, I agree that caution should be applied while analyzing the results. Awareness is one factor, and application will require an additional angle, which is "Interpretation".

We also deal with assessment tools, so I gave the suggestion fully aware of the implications. The assessment tool is charged but provides good accuracy. If you or anyone is interested, please feel free to email your query to .
