I'm Malar, and I am currently in my third year of studying Business Administration in Malaysia. We have been assigned to conduct independent studies, and we have the option to choose between Marketing or Human Resource Management (HRM). I am leaning towards HRM, but I am unsure about what specific topic to select for my research. Could you please recommend a topic that would be relatively easier to score well on? I appreciate your assistance in this matter. Thank you.

Hmm, a topic that's not difficult to score... I have been following the HR trends in Malaysia, which is pretty progressive. I would suggest two topics:

1. How to create an organization that adds value to employees, customers, and investors?
2. Should we do away with HR? In recent years, a number of people who study and write about business - along with many who run businesses - have been debating that question. The debate arises out of serious and widespread doubts about HR's contribution to organizational performance.

We know that we have suggested a little different one from the usual. These research topics, if done in an organized manner, will help you to get a great break.

Well, I would suggest you to take up a topic related to competency management, as this is the most critical aspect in an organization. Competency determines the skill base of its human resources.

The KPA-based assessment system also takes into account the issues of competency, which can be linked with all other aspects like T&D, compensation, promotion, etc. So, I would suggest you to take up a topic on Competency Management.
