Dear Sir,

I posted this mail in March this year, but it's good to see someone finally replying. "Quality Circles is an informal group of 7-12 members meeting regularly on a weekly basis to discuss quality, productivity-related issues, and other problems of the shop floor."

It is a kind of platform for workers at the grassroots to put forward their views and solve their own problems with the help of upper management.

I wanted some examples from the Indian industry in which these Quality Circles are currently working.

Thanks & Regards,
Deepika

Understanding Quality Circles

Quality circles are indeed small groups of employees dedicated to finding solutions to even the most minute aspects that hinder achieving a nearly perfect outcome. It's a kind of brainstorming circle where all participants contribute their doubts, knowledge on a particular issue, and noteworthy observations.

In every sphere of activity, we find these circles in one form or another. For example, there are core committees in political parties, groups of ministers, or committees of ministers constituted to find solutions to problems without sacrificing the welfare of people, financial commitment, and political mileage. At the international level, we find groups like the G7 countries, where select members concerned about unexpected issues or aiming to improve performance in areas of common interest participate in such groups.

The watchword is how to frame a strategy to achieve improved performance in terms of quality and cost-effectiveness.
