Dear Ms. Ramya,

Mr. Sayeed had provided you links to improve your COMMUNICATION SKILLS - ORAL / WRITTEN. From your post, I conclude that your written communication skill is good. You haven't made GRAMMATICAL MISTAKES. It's better you stop using SMS LANGUAGE and start reading NEWS PAPERS, BOOKS, WATCHING SOME GOOD PLAYS, and reproduce a SUMMARY on your own.

Follow this methodology LSRW.
L - LISTEN
S - SPEAK
R - READ
W - WRITE

Everything you do should be TIME-BOUND. Good Luck.

With profound regards

Hi Ramya,

Try these techniques to improve your reading, speaking, listening, and pronunciation skills in English.

Read English newspapers, magazines, and articles aloud (not too loudly, just audibly enough for your own ears).

Play crosswords from newspapers or other sources, etc.

Avoid using chatting, SMS, texting languages, or abbreviations in writing or speech.

Start the word card technique, i.e., choose 5-10 English words, and learn to read, write, pronounce, and understand the meaning of the word before you go to sleep. Try to recall them when you wake up in the morning. If you can't recall, refer to the word card. Maintain these word cards over time to improve your vocabulary. Choose nouns, verbs, adjectives, etc., to learn.

Speak with your siblings, colleagues, friends, and strangers in English as much as possible. Accept feedback, corrections, and criticism positively and sportingly with a big smile.

Watch quality English movies to enhance your speaking and listening skills. I recommend movies like Ice Age, Shrek, The King's Speech, Pursuit of Happiness, and many more. But I can't list them all here; otherwise, you'll be busy watching movies only! :-D

Read a paragraph or short stories (kindergarten books, short story books, etc.), then record your speech and listen to it. Note your gaps, mistakes, errors, and work on correcting them. Identify the patterns of your mistakes.

Listen to audiobooks (not excessively).

Stay focused and passionate about learning. At the same time, take it as a fun activity and enjoy the process.

Don't restrict, pressure, or stress yourself with time limits. Learning is a continuous process. Gradually, word by word, you will grow and learn.

Wishing you all the best.

From Kuwait, Salmiya
