Hello,
Currently, I am doing my internship in an insurance firm. The project I am working on involves a general profile. So far, I have prepared motivation/organizational culture questionnaires, conducted a sales manager skills analysis, and analyzed exit interviews. My guide has suggested that I work on something innovative that does not involve additional costs. I considered creating an attrition calculator since attrition rates are high in the insurance sector. I would appreciate your guidance on other ideas that could be applied to my project work and benefit the organization.
Please provide your response as soon as possible.

The duration of my project is just for 2 months, to be more precise from May 2, 2011, till June 27. I did not understand what you meant by doctrine or non-doctrine projects. So far, I have conducted a lot of analysis and questionnaire-type research. I am worried about how I am going to consolidate everything and then find a suitable title for it. I am happy that I am getting to learn at least some basics in the HR profile, but please suggest something else I could add to my project soon.

You had done different projects. There is no need for clubbing them together. You have to make one major project, and these will be supporting projects. You must conduct a needs analysis in the organization for your projects so that you work on projects that add value to the organization and enhance your learning. If there is no specific project from the organization, then you must work on a project according to what you believe will save time, money, energy, or all of them for the organization. Examples include the role of technology in HR processes, synergy in various HR processes, employee engagement, etc. The point is you must quantify your findings. The insurance industry requires a lot of manpower for their work, and HR is struggling with hiring and closing files. There is a lot to do.

To White Eagle,
Thank you for replying to my post. I will try to find out what I really need to work on. I did suggest my guide about the usage of HR software, but then she said that they already have software which is free of cost and is almost similar to the software I had suggested. Later, she did tell me to work on Employee Retention strategies which could be used. Do you think I should make it my major project then?
P.S. I am sorry if my post sounds confusing; it's just that I want to do so many things but have less time and am confused about how I should initially go forward to work on a certain project. Do reply back.
Regards,
Namrata.

I was also thinking about compensation and benefits as a project work, but my guide has told me not to make use of a questionnaire or ask employees since I have already done a lot of analysis like that. I was thinking if I could research the benefits provided by the company and try to compare it with its competitors. Again, the problem here is that it is difficult to get the competitors' information about the benefits they provide to their employees. Reply soon.
