Hi All,
My company deducts Rs. 780/- as PF for employees who are drawing more than Rs. 6500/- as well. Is this a correct practice? Do you have anything in black and white that supports this?
Thanks,
M. Parmar

Dear M. Parmar,
The ceiling limit of salary for EPF is Rs. 6,500, i.e., the statutory obligation is only up to the ceiling limit. Beyond the ceiling, it is optional.
This is the case for those already registered with PF. Regarding a new employee whose salary is above the ceiling limit, the employer is not obliged (statutorily) to remit PF.

Dear Sir,
As per the provisions of the Factories Act, 1948, every year, industries that fall under the definition of a factory are required to submit a list of holidays to the respective District Deputy/Assistant Director of Industrial Safety and Health in the month of December for the succeeding year.
This list includes National Holidays declared by the Union Government (i.e., Central Government) and some holidays declared by the State Government. Additionally, District Collectors have the authority to declare certain holidays. All these holidays are considered paid holidays. The list typically includes:
- 26th January - Republic Day
- 1st May - Maharashtra Day (applicable only for the state of Maharashtra)
- 15th August - Independence Day
- 1 day for Dashera
- 2 to 3 days for Deepawali
I hope this information is helpful to you.
