Please help me. I was working for a company where I signed a 2-year suretyship agreement (bond) for a minimum 2-year period of service. However, due to the ill health of my father, I resigned within 5 months of joining as he was facing problems running the family business. I have mentioned the same in my resignation letter to the company.

Now the company is threatening to take legal action against me. I am attaching a copy of my bond. Please suggest what can be done, as I am not in a position to pay such a huge amount.

I hope people will reply to this post quickly.

Hi,

The only way out could be that you prove that you are facing psychological problems due to work. Or if you are a bold type, just leave it. They will send you some legal notices, hire an advocate to draft replies. But I would seriously recommend that you go as per what you agreed to earlier while signing the bond. The consequences of your acts can be devastating. All the best.
