Dear seniors,
I have chosen to pursue Management in HR after my Dentistry because I want to grow and be a part of the booming Indian economy. However, it is really challenging to convince non-healthcare interviewers to accept me, even as a trainee. As a student, I need guidance on how to tackle this critical question as no one moves past this question in my interviews. It is also understandable that I don't have experience to support my credibility.

The aim of an interviewer is to dig deep and find answers. Now you have to act accordingly. I find your reason "want to be part of the booming economy" is not convincing. Hypothetically, you can be part of a booming economy even by being a dentist. So, do some introspection and find out the answer for yourself. Give us some hints on the issue so that we can help you use the right language for the interview. Some suggestions can be:
1. Interest in the particular area of HR.
2. Wanting to become an expert in HR affairs.
3. Being inspired by some great leaders/management gurus.

Though it's really a challenge convincing non-healthcare interviewers about my decision and getting them to accept me even as a trainee. Don't blame them as they would be skeptical and wary of the same, as rightly pointed out by Kriyaz, which is very pertinent.
The aim of the interviewer is to dig deep and find answers. Now you have to respond accordingly. I find your reason, "want to be part of a booming economy," not convincing. Hypothetically, you can be part of the booming economy even as a dentist.

I'm sure it wouldn't be difficult.
I see a tremendous opportunity for you in the healthcare sector, which is a booming sector. You would be able to discern the knowledge and skill sets of medical professionals (compared to non-healthcare HR professionals) and thereby conduct the preliminary discussions to assess their suitability to the organizations.
