I am a civil contractor in a central PSU, having fewer than 20 casual laborers on the payroll. I comply with PF & ESI formalities for all my employees. I want to know whether it is mandatory for a contractor to pay wages to its employees in their bank accounts directly.

It is advisable to obtain written declarations from employees regarding their bank details along with a blank cheque and ensure timely submission to the bank.
