Dear All,

We have a mother unit in Haryana and sales employees in other states. Until now, we have been submitting their ESIC contributions using the mother unit code. If we need to change the dispensary of an Insured Person (IP) for a state other than Haryana, the update is not occurring, and it requires approval from the ESIC authority with a company letterhead, which must be submitted by the employee. The ESIC authority is requesting the code/subcode of ESIC for different locations/states. My questions are:

1. Can we submit ESIC contributions at the mother unit, and what are the actual practices in the industry?
2. Would we need to obtain different codes/subcodes for different locations/states?
3. Would the employee receive benefits from the code of our mother unit?

Please respond so that my query can be resolved as soon as possible.

Thanks & Regards,
Jai Sharma

Under ESIC, there are two main facilities - Medical and Financial. If you only have the mother code, you can access medical facilities from other states/locations. However, for any financial assistance, employees must relocate to Haryana (Mother code location).

It is common practice in the industry to obtain a sub-code in each location/state and register employees at the nearest dispensary and local office for a smooth access to all facilities.
