Dear Sir,

I am currently working at a company where I made an agreement for 1.5 years, and I have already worked for almost 2 and a half years in this company.

Upon joining, they retained my two original certificates which were to be returned to me after my contract ended. However, I was unable to retrieve these certificates as I was transferred to another branch of the same company.

I have secured a new job with a start date of January 16, 2017. Consequently, I submitted my resignation via email to my current company, providing a 15-day notice period.

Although my offer letter states a 2-month notice period, I requested a 5-day extension. Despite this, the company insists that I comply with the 2-month notice period as per the offer letter.

Upon completion of the initial 15-day notice period, I sent a farewell email to my employer. In response, I received the following message:

"What is this, and why is he sending this email if he has not completed the notice period? Talk to my lawyer after that, mail me."

I am concerned about the situation as my original certificates remain with the company. I seek your guidance on this matter.

Kindly advise on how to proceed.

Hi Sharma,

I am currently working at Sandoz. I have submitted my resignation, which they have accepted; however, they have not provided me with a relieving letter. They mentioned that I need to work for one or two more months. I decided to resign due to family issues. According to the company policy, I am required to work for 90 days or pay three months' basic salary to the company. I am willing to comply, and I have worked for seven days post my resignation. Could you please advise on what steps I should take next? This is urgent.

Thank you.

Hi,

There is always an option whether to serve the notice period or have the salary deducted from your F&F.

If you don't want to serve your notice period, then you have to deduct the money from F&F.
