Hi,

Yesterday, I was called for a personal interaction in a firm. While I was waiting, someone came and provided me with a form and a questionnaire. After filling out the form, I glanced at the questionnaire, which proved to be a difficult nut to crack as I am not well-versed in those areas.

So, I need to buy some relevant books on the following topics:

1. NI ACT - with sections, their interpretations, and any book showing examples of simple and complex problem-solving approaches related to cheques, promissory notes, etc., including the procedures involved in solving those problems.

2. Drafting and vetting various complex and simple writ petitions/arbitration petitions for company-related issues.

3. A book on Company Law with sections, interpretations, examples of relevant problems, and their solutions with proper explanations.

I understand that there may be different books related to each topic in every point as mentioned above, but the books should be simple in language and easily understood by first-hand users. For instance, a book on the Transfer of Property Act, 1882 written by R.N. Sinha was nice with simple and easy language, understandable even by a non-legal person.

Please assist me in purchasing the mentioned books. Kindly provide me with the names of the books and their authors so that I can visit a law bookstore or shop online. I am in Mumbai and new to this place, so if anyone can also text me the name of a shop here or a website address from where the listed books can be purchased, it will be really helpful for me. Please consider this urgent as I may be called again for further discussions.

Regards,

Amit Kumar

Hi Amit,

To be frank, likings and understandings differ from person to person. So, if members start recommending books on required topics, neither you would afford to buy all, nor can it prove to be useful to you as per your own expectation, liking, or understanding.

So, it is suggested you may better visit some law book shop, where you can get plenty of such books to be selected as per your liking and easy understanding.

Better buy books with commentary instead of bare acts. Bare acts may be difficult for you to understand the law appropriately. You may also purchase some guidebooks, read them, but must go through the relevant sections of the act so that you may properly interpret the law and also know whether the author has correctly interpreted, as some guidebooks are prepared by some novices also.
