Dear sir,
I am working as an Area Business Manager in a pharma company. I joined this company on December 2, 2013, and I am a confirmed employee. I was on medical leave from July 6, 2015, to August 3, 2015, due to a backbone injury. I provided proper medical certificates and availed the leave. I rejoined on August 4, 2015, and worked for one week. However, on August 10, during a meeting, I was asked to submit my resignation. The reason given was that none of my medical representatives wants to work with me as I cannot do fieldwork individually, so I should resign. They are currently holding my July expenses, salary, and my seniors have my salary in the form of a Bank DD. They are requesting that I give one month's notice before releasing my salary. I have communicated all of this to the HR of my company, but he has not responded to my emails. Instead, he is calling me and asking me to resign over the phone.
Could you please advise me on analyzing my situation? I am actively looking for a new position and have not submitted my notice of resignation. Are there any legal options or suggestions on how I can retain my job and receive my due salary?
Thank you.

You are a manager. So, you are not covered by most of the labor laws. If your subordinate team does not work with you, and the top management does not support you, you have no reason to exist in that company. It's very clear. If you can't do fieldwork, what role do you have as an area manager in Pharma? If the subordinate team could work on their own, what is the need for you anyway? You are expected to visit clients in all areas of the district along with the sales team. I am sure you knew this. How do you expect the company to keep you if you are no longer capable of fulfilling the basic requirement of your work?
At least they are giving you the option to resign. If they choose, they could simply wait for a month for you to rejoin and then terminate you. Being a manager, you can do nothing, and you would have a termination letter that will make it very difficult to work elsewhere.
