I want to know what Grade A Gazetted officers are. I need a letter from them to verify my address for Aadhaar Card. Will a Gazetted officer oblige to sign a letter for me, even if he does not know me personally.
I do know a Physiotherapist who is willing to sign a letter for me. But I am not sure whether his letter would be accepted. He is not MBBS but has completed B.Sc and M.Sc from Chaudhary Charan Singh University in Meerut and currently works for a private hospital. He says that he can attest documents.

Grade A gazetted officers are those serving in State and Central Government Offices. Similarly, there are Group B gazetted officers. Any of the officers known to you or known to your friend can issue you the above letter. That letter needs to be affixed with his official seal as well.

Gazetted Officers are those people: Doctors in State/Central Hospitals, Assistant Engineers in both State government departments and organizations, Assistant Geologists in State government, Principals of Government High Schools and Colleges (including KVs and Sainik Schools), Pro-Vice Chancellors and Faculty Deans of Central and State Universities, police officers of state police service and Central Police Organizations recruited at the rank of Deputy Superintendent of Police.

Gazetted Officers are those whose names have appeared in the official Gazette of central or state governments and who are authorized to authenticate documents. Your friend, the Physiotherapist, might issue a certificate of residential proof, but he is not a gazetted officer and hence won't be useful for your purpose. However, take his certificate to a gazetted officer, and he won't have much hesitation to certify it. Alternatively, you can also try obtaining a notary certificate from your locality. Some of the headmasters/headmistresses of government or aided schools, professors of colleges, and postmasters of such ranks can also assist you. IAS, IPS, IRS officers, police inspectors, and Tahsildars may also be able to help.
