Hi,

I have been selected in an MNC company. Prior to this, I have worked in 3 companies over 9 years. I worked for over 3 years in my last company. The MNC is asking me for bank statements from all the companies. I have never had any reason to request bank statements for anything before. Also, nobody has ever asked me for this information. Since my current salary account is active, I stated that I could only provide the current bank statement. All the older bank accounts have been closed due to inactivity, as I did not use them after leaving the job. However, I mentioned that I have tax returns for the entire 9-year period. I have filed tax returns even when there was no tax to be paid. This is the only proof of income that I have.

Can anyone advise me on how to handle this situation? I do not want to lose a good offer.

Regards, Neha

Dear Neha,

The HR person who is asking you to provide the bank statements must be a government servant. Earlier, they did not know the practice but only the rules (Joke apart). The financial documents are sufficient as income proof.

A needy person must follow the directives. In your case, if he is insisting on old bank statements, and if you know the bank account number and branch, you will have to visit the branch and request them to provide the bank statements. Even if the account is closed, you can still obtain the bank statements. This is the only solution for the adamant demand.

In an extreme scenario where the bank staff are reluctant to provide the statements, inform them that you are being called for an Income Tax Scrutiny where you must present the statements to the Income Tax Authorities.

Hi, seniors. Can anybody provide me with the current minimum wage rates of the central government and West Bengal related to the construction industry (highly skilled, skilled, semi-skilled, and unskilled)? Also, please recommend a handy book on payroll matters in the construction industry (PF, ESI, professional tax calculation, and rules).

Please help.

Thanks and regards,
