Dear friends,

Please find attached the ESI (General) (Amendment) Regulations 2013, which have been effective since 1.6.2013. The amendment provides for the following:

a) An insured person who has been awarded permanent disablement benefit at a rate not exceeding Rs. 10 per day (increased from Rs. 5 per day earlier) can now apply for commutation of permanent disablement benefit as per Regulation 76B.

b) A new Regulation 110 has been inserted, providing for an online system of functioning, including digital signatures.

Thank you.

Dear Seniors,

I have hired a new employee who needs to be registered in ESIC. Her husband works in a private company and has already registered her name in ESIC. My question is whether she needs to be registered again through my company or if she can continue with her husband's registration.

I believe that fathers-in-law and mothers-in-law are not covered by ESIC. Please correct me if I am mistaken.
