If TDS is deducted than go to incometax site. Ask him to login and check his 26AS. See his any income tax returns ir he has claimed PT. Check bank statement if any salary is credited.

You can get the payslip authenticated by the authorized person from the company via email, fax, or letter. You can inquire about the authorized signature person's name and designation and also confirm if they are still working there, as only the authorized person can verify the authenticity of the payslip.
