Dear Friends,
One of our employees isn't reporting to work, nor does he inform his reporting manager of his whereabouts. However, he is replying to emails that have been written to him over the last three days. What letter can I write to him regarding his behavior?
I would appreciate a quick response from the experts on this forum.
Thanks!

Hi,
What do you mean if an employee is not reporting to work or to his reporting manager? Is this employee on approved leave or has absconded? If the employee is on leave without prior approval from the reporting manager, a warning letter can be issued.

Dear Simi Hanspal,
Please ascertain the whereabouts of the employee through informal sources - colleagues, friends, family, etc. There are several ways to do so. Three days of absence, unless someone is entrusted with a very sensitive or urgent assignment, is not very alarming. Since he is replying to emails, you can email him and ask him to apply for leave with proper justification and communicate his whereabouts.
Warm regards.

Dear friend,
Greetings for the day!
Employees not reporting on duty without proper information is a matter of great concern. Try to find out from the sources regarding his/her whereabouts like friends, family, etc. You can also call his/her cell to know the reason. Sometimes, there are situations where employees are not able to inform their reporting supervisor, but this is a serious misconduct on their part.
Once he/she reports on duty, arrange a counseling session and try to find out the reason for this irresponsible behavior. Moreover, serve him/her with a cautionary note. I do not think a warning letter should be served if it is the first time.
Hope this will help you.
Thanks and Regards,

Give him an oral warning for his misbehavior. Any responsible person will inform their supervisor or manager, whatever the matter may be. 3 days without intimation, but responding to emails, something fishy about the whole episode.

Dear Simihan,
If the employee has been absent from work or duty without permission or information for a period of at least one week, please inform him that he has been absent without prior permission, which is a serious matter in terms of the conduct rules or Certified Standing Orders of the company. Direct him to report for duty within three days of receiving this message. Failure to do so will lead to the presumption that he is no longer interested in continuing his service with the organization, and further action will be taken accordingly.

Is it ethical for an employer to deduct salary despite attending official works, but at the pretext that the method of attendance has been changed from manual to digital, which I didn't comply with due to a communication gap? 25 days' salary was deducted. My question is whether such arbitrary action has any remedy since no warning letter, caution, or discussion was made, and unilaterally salary was deducted. Despite emails, no opportunity was provided to hear me. Kindly advise on legal remedies/options available for such clandestine action by the employer and oblige.
