My college is offering to conduct a Six Sigma course (Black Belt) at a cost of $20,000 or above. Is that course and its certificate valuable? Being an MBA fresher in HR specialization, will it enhance my value in the job market?

I am a certified Six Sigma Champion from STQC. Forget it right now. If you are good in stats, or even if you aren't, do it from the Indian Statistical Institute. First, it's among the finest places to learn stats in India. Secondly, the cost of Green Belt is 4.5K (this is enough for most people). Six Sigma is a fad; every company thinks it is a panacea for all management evils. Feel free to call/email should you require help.

Hello,
Six Sigma Black Belt can be very useful to anyone, but especially to someone who can cope with and enjoys the rigors of serious statistics, such as Design of Experiments and Probability. Generally, math and statistics are not the strong points of individuals who opt for an HR stream. So, before you enroll in the course, review the course material to see if you would be able to keep up with it. Having taught the course, I know that individuals from an engineering background are most successful at it. Therefore, review your performance in math from your school or college before making a decision.
On the other hand, you may consider taking the Green Belt course, which can help you as a manager in your field.
Best of luck,
Anupam

Anupam has reaffirmed the right aspects in your college management. They may be promoting Six Sigma based on the same premise that most business schools promote dual specialization. The goal seems to be to secure the easiest placement for a candidate, irrespective of the preferences or life goals of a student. It's noted that maximum placements occur in sales.
Having a Six Sigma Black Belt certification could lead to landing a job quickly, with a 90% chance that it would be in the operations field in a BPO.

Hi, this is Sathiyan. I think it could be used for all sorts of management. From the HR point of view, if we know how to use the manpower effectively, and if we are able to build a strong and healthy relationship between management/HR and the employees, I believe it does not require a course of experience. Experience is needed by everybody, and we can gain that only through our seniors. I think innovation combined with experience sets us apart from others.
Note: I have only attended this class once, and this is what I understood. If you find any mistakes in my understanding, please correct me.
Regards,
Sathiyan

Dear All,
I am working as a Team Leader for one of the companies in the healthcare industry for the past two years, and I have 3 years of experience in Medical Transcription. I am also pursuing M.H.M (Masters in Hospital Management), final semester at Osmania University. I would like to know complete details of Six Sigma courses like duration, fee structure, etc., which can be best suitable for me in the healthcare sector. I am very interested in the hospital operations side. If I do this certification, how will it be helpful for me? I would also like to know the future prospects for such certification courses in terms of my career.
I would be grateful if you would suggest me in this regard.
Many thanks in advance for your attention.
Thanks, Ravi Chinthala

Compared to other belts, a Green Belt is responsible for 25% of the project as a team member and also serves as the project leader for simple projects. The Six Sigma course holds value in the market. Hello all,
I think in Six Sigma, there are so many tools and so much understanding required regarding where to use the tools, how to use the tools, and also some software needs to be understood, like Minitab software. For complete knowledge freely about all this, you can go to the link below.
You can find the best material about Six Sigma from oraclespss.blogspot.com.
