Hi friends,
I know you all are fed up with the story of the hare and the tortoise, and you're gonna kill me if I repeat that story one more time. However, I couldn't stop myself from sharing the version of the story that I recently used in one of my training sessions.
Please read the 2012 version of the story, and your comments will be appreciated.
As you are very well aware:
- The 1st time, the tortoise won.
- The 2nd time, the hare won.
- The 3rd time, the team won.
But you know, one last time, the hare again decided to race with the tortoise. He went up to the house of the tortoise and challenged him to a race. As a man of integrity, the tortoise obliged. Both started the race.
The hare was running very fast and was ahead, but when he was just near the finishing point, a thought crossed his mind, and he stopped.
He started thinking, "Am I justifying my capabilities or not? Am I doing so much hard work, taking so much pain, for what? Was the race worthy of the attention and time I devoted? What are the benefits of winning from a competitor who can't even compete?"
He abandoned the idea of the race right there and went in search of doing something meaningful and useful.
Moral of the story:
Stop following useless goals flawlessly.
"There is nothing so useless as doing efficiently that which should not be done at all."

Hi Ashish,
Such a sweet story!
"I am doing so much hard work... taking so much pain... for what?"
Exactly right what you said, "There is nothing so useless as doing efficiently that which should not be done at all."
Thanks for posting such a cute one.

Hi, That was a wonderful story thinking in a modern world perspective . Better to challenge ourself and grow rather than just competing with someone else.

Dear Ashu,
Thumbs up for the post. The best way to excel in any field is to compete with one's own self because nobody could match the qualities and capabilities which one has.

Hi Everybody,
First of all, thank you all for all those kind words and support you showered on me.
I understand your concern about the spelling of "hair" and "hare," but as a student of MBA long time ago, I heard about a company which displayed its ad at one of the busiest stations with wrong spellings, and it had more impact than the original ad placed somewhere else. So, I was just checking whether it is true or not, just a new version I tried on Citehr.

Dear All,
Good morning.
I personally agree with the comments of Mr. Moqeem Akhtar that "It's really another way to think... it should be the philosophy of life... thanks for sharing it." Additionally, we can conclude, amongst other things, that life should be balanced between work and personal (social) life.
Please do not comment in a taunting way on "hair" or "hare"; it is not a big deal or issue, as we all understand it.
Thanks,
Muhammad Hamid

Dear Ashu,
With your story, you have made a point, "When you think you have reached a point, it is always best to stop and re-evaluate where you are headed."
I am quite amused by the way you tell your stories. I can say that you have a quality of looking at things in a way they should not be looked at and not being a sheep among the flock. Keep posting and keep evolving!

You should always compete with an equal opponent or competitor and not just be selfish sometimes or purpose-oriented in fulfilling tasks. Consider what the end result will be, what name, fame, or benefit you will gain in return. Dear Ashu, you presented this tortoise story from a different perspective. :-)
