Hi people,
I am just wondering how you are finding working with a female HR boss? We all know that everyone is different, and it's individual behaviors that set them apart. In my HR career, I have had 4 male bosses and 2 female bosses (my current superior is a woman).
I have had the most enjoyable moments working with my male bosses. Not only can they handle themselves very well, but the guidance and coaching they provide are superb. One male boss was a womanizer, but he did not make it apparent at work.
I have encountered 2 of the worst experiences in my whole career with female bosses:
1. They lose their temper frequently.
2. They change their minds frequently.
3. They have mood swings.
4. They show their anger openly.
5. Less appreciation is shown.
6. They can be egoistic.
7. They are fussy.
8. They can be clumsy at times.
Along the way in my career, I have looked up to many managers and bosses, hoping that one day I could achieve their positions. This is a determination, but I continuously remind myself that I will never behave like them. The behavior and attitude you mirror to others are very important because every manager fails to realize that one of their associates is looking at them for inspiration and motivation. It is very disappointing that we talk about human resources development, but the essence of it is not well absorbed even by the person who is initiating it.
Again, I would like to stress that not everyone is the same, but mostly, based on my experiences with female bosses, it is unquestionable. They can be difficult to work with and fail to behave like professional working adults.
Kindly share your experiences with female bosses if you have similar opinions to mine.
Thank you and have a nice day.

Well, sir, I don't think it's genuine on your side to give such a general statement about lady bosses only based on working with two female superiors. You can't judge millions based on just two examples alone. Additionally, you didn't disclose your own behavior while working with these ladies, and many other such facts were still undisclosed.

I actually want to disagree with you somehow on the thing you said that people are all the same. In this world, the main reason why HRM was invented was the fact that people are so different and vary with time. It's because of this that also, there exist psychologists too.
I would advise learning about your woman HR boss because at one moment, she cannot be anywhere close to how the past bosses were. However, I feel that it's good that she brings out her feelings, and that, I guess, should be your strongest point to understand her situations.
Anyways, I pray that you find the best in your boss because when you do, you will find it so easy to deal with women bosses. Although, I would like to know your sex as well. CIAO

Dear Sonia Bason,
As I have mentioned again and again, this post is not meant to single out anyone in particular. I hope it's not taken as a personal offense by you. Your opinion is still valued, and I appreciate it.
Dear Saint,
Please read my words carefully. I never claimed that all people are the same. If I had said so, it would be like throwing meat in a zoo. Being a female does not make me any less capable of understanding another woman, if that's the point you are trying to make.
Thanks,

Well, I have to disagree! In fact, I have come across male bosses with the negative traits that you mentioned. I give full credit to my first boss, who is a lady! Whatever I am today or how people know me in my industry is because she groomed me well!
Please, I would request you not to make a general statement. I understand your pain of not being appreciated and also the pain of dealing with a tough boss. However, it's not about gender; it depends on things like upbringing, situations, past experiences, and some bitter incidents.
I hope you will get a good boss soon!

I had one lady boss who was a real pain. She was a very strict person, not much knowledge, and just became an HR manager by hook or crook. She knew nothing, and I had a tough time dealing with her. That was only for 14 days. Many females have this complex where they fear that they might be dominated by men and hence start dominating men themselves, harassing them. It's very hard to deal with such ladies.

Even I do not agree with you. I think if we understand the way of working of our boss, whether female or male, things would be easier.
And I would like to tell you, just keep in mind "People are different and not difficult." Life will become easy everywhere. Just learn to deal with different kinds of behavior of people. :)

Even though I have a boss who is very bad, I posted the feedback on this new portal. After a while, my company also got to see some feedback and helped improve our situations in order to save their image too. You can post feedback about your boss anonymously on Jobiness India.

This is really strange that being in HR you are not comfortable with female bosses...all i can say is that this is your poor luck that you are not able to handle them. Veena

As all the experienced individuals have commented earlier, I would also agree with their views. You cannot generalize based on your experiences. I have also had a few female bosses in my career, and two of them were really difficult to work with. But that is life; we have to find ways to deal with and move on. I don't think it is anything personal. You just have to find what makes them tick and what works for your environment and situation, and adapt accordingly. Just be careful not to get personal (like comments or sharing) as you may do with a male boss (bonding). If you are professional in your behavior, work, and related matters, you should be able to tide over it easily.
All the best.

Hello Miss.
I have read about your post and all the comments regarding the aforementioned post. If permitted, I would like to share my two pence worth of thought on this matter too.
Actually, I have worked with both male and female bosses. Currently, my HOD happens to be a female, and our HR Team is an all-female-oriented team. The fact is, in our company, the females working together tend to bond better and have great understanding, the same as the Operation Team, which is all male. Maybe it falls back mostly on the perception of each individual in our organization, including our MD, that we are working towards a common goal.
Nevertheless, I have had my fair share of encounters with male and female bosses who are just plain clueless about their job functions and communications, wasting time utilizing the company resources and misusing their positions to their personal advantages. Therefore, rather than having a bleak outlook and blaming gender as the cause of one person's attitudes and behavior in life, it should be noted that the root cause is usually the organization and the top hats. If managers and their subs have been drilled on what is expected of them to reach the ultimate vision, then employees will never act out as irresponsible individuals.
Thank you for sharing this post here.
Best of Luck!
