Hi Friends,

I am a corporate trainer and have recently joined a software company. There are software professionals working here who lack in personality skills. Kindly suggest what kind of training modules would be appropriate for them.

Thanks

Hi Yuvraj,

First, find out the training needs analysis. Is it based on communication, teamwork, identity issues, strategic thinking, influencing skills, responsibility, and awareness? Please trace the grey areas and develop a plan for the same.

Personality, in itself, is a very wide and vast term. You have to check the DISC profiling or any attribute test that will help you recognize their grey areas. Possibly have a discussion with the TLs/Managers to find out the culture or mindset of their respective teams and determine how these grey areas can be addressed.

Thanks and regards.

Hi Yuvraj,

In addition to what Kaushik has mentioned, I would request you to visit www.actspot.com and click on Courses to get a broad overview of some of the possible topics that can be included in your training.

I would also invite you to visit the following Inspirational and Motivational Blogs:

Hi,

@ ACT - Thanks for the input. The blogs are of great help.

@ Kaushik - TNA has been done, and areas of opportunity have been discovered. Unfortunately, broadly speaking, they cover all aspects of one's personality, from presentation skills to business writing, motivation to social etiquette. The challenge is that the initiative by the human resource department seems more like it is being imposed on the operations department, and acceptance is the concern.

Tell me if you have something to suggest on this.

Thanks,
YuvraJ

Hi, Yuvraj,

I think in this case you should try to conduct outdoor training sessions. In this way, they will be less likely to resist whatever initiative you have taken. It's quite obvious that they will perceive it as being imposed on them.

Hi, I'm Vailene. I'm from a firm where we conduct such kind of training for employees. Please let me know if there is something that we can work out for you. After researching these issues, we understand that while employees have the hard skills in place, their soft skills and personality have not been groomed to have a positive outlook, which impacts their performance.

Anyways, please do get back to me.

As a corporate counselor, I would suggest starting with empowerment. In my view, although they are well-qualified, excellent at work, highly intelligent, etc., they lack a holistic view of their lives. That is why they need external help to make better decisions.

Hi Yuvraj,

It is pretty obvious that anything delivered in lecture form would make the audience bored. Your prerogative here should be an outdoor training session, where you can choose a hotel, resort, or any garden as a venue. The venue plays an important role in training, and instead of giving lectures, you should impart exercises like mind games and team games. This way, you would be able to maintain their attention throughout the session.

Dear Yuvraj,

Shabbar has been kind enough to suggest the resources. However, should I like to outsource any form of training, then I would be happy to take it on. I am Pune-based and have specialized in soft skills, PD, personal counseling, and life coaching.
