Hi Great fraternity,

I need your suggestion. I aspire to achieve the best career in HR profession. Presently, I am working as a Recruiter in a consultancy after completing my MBA with HR specialization.

My request to you is, what would be the best thing for me to pursue - an MA in Psychology or a Diploma in Industrial Relations? Please help make my future and career bright with your best advice.

Regards,
Manikyam

Dear Mr. Manikyam,

An MA in Psychology will typically not benefit you for value-adding your JD in HR spectrum. Typically, a PG degree in IR may help, depending on the course content and mode (distance vs. regular). If you wish to remain in the domain of Psychology, you should typically consider a PG degree in Master of Science (MSc) in Psychology (HRDM) (typically offered by a college in Bangalore: Christ University) or equivalent. The course really may value add to your current JD.

Hope you found this information usable.

You may approach institutes directly and ask for their profiles. Whichever, in the end, looks promising, go for it. As such, limited options are present in this country for IR. TISS is the main institute, and others follow.

Kota Open University (1987) offers a PG diploma in IR.

Department of Business Management, Punjabi Univ. Patiala-147002, offers a PG diploma in IR through distance learning mode.

Institute of Correspondence Courses, Sr. Venkateshwara Univ. Tirupati-517502, also offers a PG course in IR.
