Good Exploration! In Tamil, we call it with the proverb as "Kannaal kaanbathum poi, Kaathaal kaetpathum poi, Theera Visarippathey Mei". This is what you have done. The meaning is "Only the things seen will not be true, only the things listened will not be true, but only by the research or inquire will reveal what are the seen and listened things.

Dear Members,

I am sorry to say, I disagree with the claim.

I do not want to challenge the given explanation - the phenomena may be happening, but in a different situation.

The colour of square B is "WHITE," which is completely different from the colour of square A, which is "GREY."

The majority of people agreeing with the given explanation are victims of falling prey to whatever is delivered to them with some polished words and nice packaging (sorry to hurt your feelings, but it is a true fact).

It is simple to prove that the colours of squares A and B are different.

Do you agree that the colours of the squares on all four sides of square B (left, right, top, and bottom) are grey? These squares are also in the area where this phenomenon would be happening. Then, why is it that they are not appearing white?

This is cheating (or a prank played by some useless fellow) or purely a misunderstanding and twisting of the wrongly understood facts.

It is written that 'nobody has changed the colours of the squares.'

What is being done is, in fact, the original white colour of square B is changed to the next degree of grey (increasing the shade in a stepwise manner) every time the black strip appears to block the adjacent squares.

Check it again.

My advice to all - please do not believe anyone blindly just because you think the person is believable. Ask questions like you are a kid, why, how, where, etc. Think with your own grey cells, get convinced or prove otherwise.

With best regards,

I recently saw this picture shown in a risk seminar at a conference. At the time I just didn’t get what the point was. Your Powerpoint really made it clear to me. Thanks and well done! Martin

Mr. Patil,

Thanks for your reply and feedback.

Well, I myself came across this PowerPoint presentation through an email.

It's difficult to believe for me too.

Please check the 6th slide.

Once the black box starts appearing, the color looks the same.

I don't think it's cheating!

Suresh,

Thank you for your feedback. I received this presentation through email. It was difficult for me to believe as well, until I observed the 6th slide.

Please check the 6th slide. Once the black box starts appearing, the color looks the same.

" Not convinced. I still feel the squares are the same. Can I have another illustration?

It is a great pity to see so many of our dear members getting carried away by the so-called psychologists of today. I do not blame all of you who got impressed by the PPT, but I do blame the education system which has brought up and created so many "educated people" like us. That is why in today's modern world, despite having so many advanced technologies and instruments, so much fewer inventions take place. In contrast, in the olden times, without the help of any modern instruments, there were great scientists inventing myth-breaking great inventions.

The difference is we do not use our little grey cells; we are not taught to ask WHY? HOW? ...

Please check the PPT once again, as it is in "PPS" format, one cannot see the individual colors of squares in question. In that case, when you come to the first slide showing the picture, cover all the squares excluding squares A, B, and any one of the white and grey/blacks from the shaded area with your own paper strips physically (as is done in the next slides by the automated PPS). When you have done this, tell me why that color of square 'A' now does not match 'B'. And further, why does the supposedly grey/black in the shaded area appear darker than B?

This PPS is a trick played to fool people; the color intensity of 'B' is gradually changed to match 'A' when black stripes start appearing one by one. All of you, please wake up, open your eyes, start asking WHY? HOW? ... do not believe anyone blindly.

(I do not intend to disrespect anyone, but wish to make a difference between facts and truth against blind belief and tricks.)

With regards,
Jayant

Dear Mr. Jayant,

You are perfectly right. But, this you will find across many threads: overwhelmingly flattering responses over not-so-deserving content. Again, my caveat - I do not intend to target or hurt any individual. Also, my comment should not be seen as discouraging others who genuinely praise good threads, discussions, or shared content. Good threads and discussions have to be generously appreciated. I agree, appreciate, and would always encourage.

Special thanks to Mr. Jayant for politely but firmly putting his view across. Regards to all citehr members.
