Dear Members,

One of the employees, while on duty, experienced a sudden health problem and was taken to a hospital in Delhi. After two days of hospitalization at a renowned hospital in Delhi, he was declared dead due to an acute disorder. The cause of the acute disorder was Dengue fever, which was not detected earlier and had progressed to a hemorrhagic state.

This is a death case, and the employee has been a subscriber of EPF for the past two consecutive years. Could anyone provide information on the on-duty death claim benefit from PF? In the case of an employee passing away while on duty, what would be the procedure to obtain the death claim benefit for the employee from EPF? Please suggest if there is anything else that should be considered.

Warm Regards,
Dev

Dear Dev,

If someone is a subscriber of PF and dies, his heirs are entitled to EDLI claim, pension from PF, and a refund of PF. It is recommended that you visit the PF office and obtain the death claim form; all requirements are explained in that form in a clear manner. In your case, his heirs are entitled to all the benefits mentioned above.

Thank you.

Hi,

One of my friend's mothers passed away in November 2013. At that time, she designated her father as the nominee for her PF. However, her father had already passed away in 2008. Now, my friend is the only claimant in the family. Can anyone suggest how he can claim the PF amount and what the procedure is?
